Je vous avais promis une surprise pour la rentrée, je suis un peu en avance… je suppose que vous ne m’en voudrez pas !
Dévoilons à présent ce qui, j’en suis sûr, vous a empêché de dormir depuis cette annonce !
J’ai créé un nouveau blog. Non pas que je me sois lassé de celui-ci (qui continuera à vivre, à son rythme), mais j’avais envie de faire quelque chose de plus spécifique, sur un sujet que j’aime et que je pourrai développer de façon plus exhaustive qu’ici. Ce sujet c’est bien sûr la photo. Terre d’images (c’est comme ça que j’ai appelé ce blog) ne traitera donc que de photographie, à la manière dont je l’ai fait ici à plusieurs reprises dans “Comment capturer ça ?”. Las redes sociales se están imponiendo en nuestro medio. La verdad es que noes nada nuevo. Redes sociales siempre ha habido, lo que pasa es que hace años, sin Internet, las amplias redes sociales las tejían unos pocos. Ahora, con el uso de Internet y los sitios web que fomentan este tipo de comunicación es posible (no muy probable, pero si posible) llegar a posiciones que puedan mejorar el nivel de vida de las personas.
Facebook o Twenti son las redes sociales en Internet más nombradas, pero hay otras como Menéame, Flikr (esta en entorno fotográfico), etc. Mucha, alguna gente, es reacia a participar en estos entramados por temor al “espionaje” de su ordenador o verse involucrado en asuntos turbios. Hay que desechar esa idea. Internet no es un ogro, es un animal fácil de domesticar y controlar….si uno quiere.

Will there be such a thing as ‘offline’ in the future?
I’ve just read that young people in the UK spend 34 hours online each week. This seems like a lot especially when you consider that their parents spent 0 hours a week online. I can remember back as far as dial up (back in the bad old days) when it would take you 34 hours to load a basic website. We are the first generation to grow up online and I wonder what effect this will have. Other than the inability to communicate or function in the real world probably not much. Actually we must benefit greatly from being connected. We can communicate with people from all over the world and we have a platform to make our voices heard. We can also share photos of kittens!

Now before you fall off your chair in disbelief, perhaps look at this fact for the truth of what it is.
Writing in the UK’s Guardian, (http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/aug/20/water.food1) Felicity Lawrence cogently introduces us to the concept of ‘virtual water’ usage.
Accepting that immediate water usage is in the region of about 150 litres per day per person, the other 4100 litres is accounted for in the supply chain of all that we consume: the production of food, textiles, goods and everything else we take for granted.
You can imagine what the statistics for the USA might show.
If we are to even begin to entertain the concept of sustainability of water resources, each and every one of us will need to wake up to our precious dependence on water.

Já lá vai o ano de 1999, altura em que, pela primeira vez, entrei numa sala de chat, vulgo IRC.
Longe vai o tempo também que a velocidade da internet era muito baixa e nem sequer tínhamos a oportunidade de ter o computador ligado à Web 24/7.
Depois da evolução da WWW deparamo-nos com a chegada de um novo protocolo de conversação, denominado MSN. Será este o grande responsável pela desertificação que se tem vindo a verificar no IRC?
Na minha opinião, é. E é, não por ser o grande adversário do IRC, que não o é, mas pelo facto das pessoas não terem compreendido o verdadeiro sentido deste protocolo.
Voltando um pouco atrás, o MSN surgiu em força após a chegada da Banda Larga. Trouxe consigo algo a que as pessoas não estavam habituadas, os verdadeiros smiles, a possibilidade de ver fotografias, webcam, microfone, etc.

Microsoft si è accorta del grosso flop di Vista: nonostante i suoi sforzi e il suo impegno quasi per “costringere” gli utenti a passare al suo nuovo OS, Vista non è decollato. I suoi chiari problemi di retroocompatibilità e la sua pesantezza hanno fatto desistere moltissime persone dal fare l’upgrade; nel mondo dei videogiochi, neanche l’avvento delle DirectX 10, che con un’assurda manovra commerciale da parte di Microsoft sono esclusiva di Vista, ha fatto vendere di più. Insomma, ci troviamo di fronte ad un nuovo Windows ME, anch’esso inficiato da difetti simili.
